On Friday, March 12, 2010 at 2:00
PM, Durham Town Administrator Todd Selig, Dover City Manager J.
Michael Joyal, and Newmarket Town Administrator Edward Wojnowski
held a joint press conference at the Dover South End Fire Station
on Durham Road in Dover to issue a 2010 Census
mail participation rate challenge. A Durham fire truck and Dover fire truck were squared off as part of
the press kick off. Also present for the event were Cynthia Copeland,
Strafford Regional Planning Commission, Leslie Vogt, US Census Bureau,
and Beverly Hollingworth, Executive Councilor for District 3.
The B Dennis Town Design Commercial Core Strategic
Plan is a detailed description of the planning charrette
held in November of 2009. The strategic plan provides
a road map for future economic development in Durham's

Register Your Dog Online!
For your convenience, we are now able to offer dog license
renewals online. All dogs are required to have a valid
rabies vaccination and be licensed annually by April 30th.
The 2010 dog tags are available now. To use this new feature
simply select the Services tab, on the drop down menu
select Online Dog Registration and supply the requested
information. The registration will be processed and mailed
to you. As always, you can still come into the office
to renew licenses or submit your request for renewal by
mail. To view fee information, select the Departments
tab, on the drop down menu select Town Clerk/Tax Collector
and Dog Licenses.

will be open between the hours of 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM)
In the spring of 2009, the Durham Conservation Commission,
with the endorsement of the Town Council, submitted
a grant application to the Piscataqua Region Estuaries
Partnership, Community Technical Assistance Program,
for the development of a stewardship plan to better
track, manage, and protect the ecological values of
Town-owned conservation lands. Subsequently, the DCC
hired a Technical Assistance Provider, Ellen Snyder,
of Ibis Wildlife Consulting to develop Stewardship Plans
on four Durham properties: Wagon Hill Farm, Doe Farm,
Longmarsh Preserve, and the Weeks Lot. Ms. Snyder completed
the plans and delivered them to the Town the beginning
of November 2009.
At the January 11th Council meeting, Conservation Commission
member Beryl Harper provided Councilors with a brief
update on the finalized Stewardship Plans prepared by
Ms. Snyder.
The planning Charrette for Durham’s downtown core was
held during November 5-8, 2009. It is not too late to
submit comments to the design team via email, design_charrette@ci.durham.nh.us,
or by filling out a questionnaire and comment form.
